Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how EduBuddy (“EduBuddy”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and safeguards personal information when you use the EduBuddy website and application (the “Service”). Because EduBuddy is designed for students aged 10–15, protecting children’s privacy is central to how we operate.

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by EduBuddy, [registered business address]. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@edubuddy.app.

2. Children's privacy & parental consent

EduBuddy is intended for children aged 10–15 used with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Where required by law (including the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act “COPPA” and the EU/UK GDPR provisions for children), we rely on verifiable parental consent before knowingly collecting personal information from a child.

  • Parents can create and manage child accounts through the Parent Portal.
  • Parents may review, correct, export, or delete their child’s information, and may withdraw consent at any time by contacting support@edubuddy.app.
  • We do not condition a child’s participation on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary.

3. Information we collect

  • Account information — name or display name, email address, role (student, parent, admin), and language preference.
  • Learning data — subjects and topics practised, tutor conversations, practice attempts, mastery and progress scores, points, and badges.
  • Curriculum settings — the curriculum or region a student or parent selects.
  • Technical data — basic device and log information needed to keep the Service secure and reliable.

4. How we use information

  • To provide personalised, adaptive tutoring and practice.
  • To track learning progress and surface it to the student and their parent.
  • To operate gamification features such as points, badges, and leaderboards.
  • To secure accounts, prevent abuse, and maintain the Service.
  • To process subscriptions and free trials through our payment provider.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use children’s data for behavioural advertising.

5. Automated personalisation

EduBuddy adapts lesson difficulty and learning paths automatically based on a student’s answers and mastery scores. This automated personalisation is used solely to tailor teaching and does not produce legal or similarly significant effects. Parents and students can always contact us with questions about how content is adapted.

6. Service providers

We share limited information with trusted providers who help us run the Service, including cloud hosting and database infrastructure, AI model providers that power the tutor, and our payment processor (Stripe) for subscription billing. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.

7. Payments

Subscription payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. Billing details you provide during checkout are processed securely by the payment provider under their own terms and privacy policy.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as an account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. When an account is deleted, we delete or anonymise associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you (or a parent acting for a child) may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact support@edubuddy.app.

10. Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards, including access controls and row-level security on our database, to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your data.

11. International users

EduBuddy is available to students around the world. By using the Service you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than your own, with appropriate safeguards in place.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date. Significant changes affecting children will be communicated to parents where appropriate.
